About the Event
This year, Big Thicket National Preserve is holding its largest annual volunteer planting event on one day, December 13th, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. in the Big Sandy Creek Unit - Dallardsville, Texas.

Join Texas Conservation Alliance, Big Thicket Association, Big Thicket Biosphere Reserve, Big Thicket Heritage Trust, NPCA, and local Texas Master Naturalist Chapters to support the Big Thicket in their Longleaf Pine Restoration Project.
The Longleaf Pine Restoration Project has been ongoing for multiple years now in the Preserve, with the goal to help restore this unique ecosystem with native grasses and longleaf pine tree seedlings throughout the Big Sandy Creek Unit.
The event is free, please RSVP directly to Big Thicket through volunteer.gov to sign necessary waivers and provide information.
Due to unusually dry conditions, please check here or with Big Thicket directly by December 11th to confirm event status: Big Thicket direct contact (409) 951-6700*
All materials will be provided as well as free food and drinks to volunteers. Please dress in weather appropriate attire and closed toed shoes.
