About the Event
Join Cedar Hill State Park and Texas Conservation Alliance (TCA) for a fun, family-friendly evening at Park After Dark – Lights Out for Wildlife! This community event invites guests to explore the wonders of nature after sunset and learn how light pollution impacts wildlife—especially our migrating birds and insects!
The evening will feature a screening of the Lights Out, Texas! film, produced by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Center for Conservation Media. This documentary highlights the inspiring efforts behind the Lights Out, Texas! campaign to reduce bird mortality caused by light pollution and building collisions in urban environments.
To cap off the night, the park will host a Blacklight Mothing event, where guests can experience the hidden nighttime world of moths and other nocturnal insects in their natural habitat.
