About the Event

Join TCA and Meadows Center for Water & the Environment on Earth Day, Friday, April 22. We will remove Hydrilla, an invasive aquatic plant threatening the beautiful & serene San Marcos River. Our work will allow native Texas aquatic species more access to oxygen in the water and additional resources for their survival. The San Marcos River is one of the most critically endangered ecosystems in the world and is home to aquatic species found nowhere on Earth such as the Texas Wild Rice, Texas Blind Salamander, and the San Marcos Salamander! Let's get into the water to cool off, prepare to have fun, and work hard!

What to wear: You will get wet. Please bring swimwear/ garments, including footwear for getting in and out of the water.

What to Bring: Please bring personal beverages and snacks and waterproof storage for your phone.

For YOUR Safety: This event is potentially physically strenuous and challenging. There will be mud, slippery debris, and slick surfaces. You will get dirty and wet!

What to Expect: Be prepared to physically haul Hydrilla out of the river and transport it to a trailer.
