About the Event
Join TCA at the Lufkin Urban Garden & Market on Saturday, April 13, to restore pollinator habitat at the Lufkin Butterfly Volunteer Garden. Volunteers will help remove weeds, lay down cardboard, and top it off with a wood chip layer. This will help to reduce the number of weeds currently in the butterfly garden in preparation for planting in the fall. We need to reduce competition from non-native plants and grasses in order for the native plants to thrive. Remember, native plants require less water and no artificial fertilizers to thrive, and they are more beneficial to our pollinators who rely on them. They provide food and shelter for butterflies, bees, and birds and are essential to their survival. Come on out and join TCA at the Lufkin Urban Garden & Market for a morning of restoring this pollinator garden so we can support local wildlife and enhance the green spaces in our community.
