TCA Partners in Grand Opening of New Patagonia Store
Updated: Mar 18
Update 3/15/2020: This event has been postponed. Please check back later for more information.
Patagonia is opening a new store in the Deep Ellum district of Dallas and will feature Texas Conservation Alliance and one of our key issues at its Grand Opening.
Patagonia cares deeply about the impacts of damming natural rivers and will join with TCA in sharing information about the proposed Marvin Nichols Reservoir. If built, Marvin Nichols would inundate over 66,000 acres of prime wildlife habitat and agricultural land in the Sulphur River basin, including fast-vanishing bottomland hardwood forests and other wetlands. Whole communities would be impacted, with hundreds of landowners forced to sell family property, and significant negative impacts on the timber and agriculture-based economy of a 15-country region in northeast Texas.
TCA and Patagonia will ask store visitors to send comments to the Region C Water Planning Group opposing Marvin Nichols and supporting cost-effective, low-impact options for water supply.
