More Ways to Help Wildlife

Updated: Apr 7, 2021

Adopt bird friendly features

Use glass with ceramic patterns, frits and dots. Several leading organizations have created guidelines for builders and renovators to follow.

Place bird feeders properly

Feeders attract bird visitors. To avoid collisions, make sure to place them either within 3 feet or further than 10 feet from windows.

Keep cats indoors

Domestic and feral cats are the number-one direct threat to birds. They are responsible for an estimated 2.4 billion bird deaths annually. Keeping cats indoors prevents them from attacking birds and other small animals.

Get involved

Share your knowledge with others and encourage city officials and neighbors to participate in the Lights Out for Wildlife program.
